I am a communication scholar interested in health communication, organizational communication, patient safety, thanatology, and research methods.

My research focuses on communication produced by and surrounding health organizations, examining the different ways in which health is organized and practiced. I focus on communication produced by hospitals, practitioners, and patients in order to understand how different publics communicate about medical errors, patient safety, and death and dying. 

I am a Senior Associate Consultant at the Robert D. and Particia E. Kern Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery at the Mayo Clinic.
